On 27th November 2019, the National Immigration Council, an agency linked to the Ministry of Justice and Public Security, published Normative Resolution No. 40/2019 regulating the issuance of residence permits based on retirement and/or pension.Such residence permit will be granted to retired immigrants or pensioners, upon proof of the ability to transfer to Brazil the monthly amount, in foreign currency, in an amount equal to or greater than USD 2,000.00 (two thousand US dollars).
Such residence permit will initially be granted for 2 years and may be renewed for an indefinite period of time.
The above-mentioned Resolution became effective on the date of its publication (11/27/19) and revoked Normative Resolution No. 45/2000, which regulated the granting of a permanent visa to retired foreigners.
