This residence permit will be granted to foreigners of any nationality who acquire real estate in Brazil, located in urban areas, built or under construction, using their own resources.
The aforementioned rule requires that the investment must be transferred from abroad, provided that the sum of the values of all properties is equal to or greater than BRL1.000.000,00 (one million reais) if in the South, Southeast and Central-West regions, or BRL700.000,00 (seven hundred thousand reais) for properties located in the North and Northeast regions.
The investment may be in more than one property, as long as the total investment in all properties meets the minimum required threshold. Co-ownership is also permitted, provided the minimum investment per immigrant is met.
Furthermore, such residence permit will be granted for 2 years initially, and if maintenance of the property is proven, it may be renewed for an indefinite period.
This is a major innovation for national immigration policy, contributing to the development of new businesses in Brazil.
